On Sunday, October 14th, three local bands — Wes Sp8 & The Apollo Proxy, Lacy Gibbet, and Mister Master — put on a groovy, psychedelic rock show at Barboza. The night ranged from the opening trio of Wes Sp8 to the six-piece power source of Lacy Gibbet. Check out the best bits of action below.

  • Seattle-based rock trio Wes Sp8 & The Apollo Proxy opens the night at Barboza with its gritty and loud take on blues-rock.

  • Frontman Wes Speight (often stylized as “Sp8”) leads the The Apollo Proxy with a fusion of musical influences ranging from folk and rock to punk and experimental.

  • Bassist Jonathan Murphy of Wes Sp8 & The Apollo Proxy maintains a subdued yet commanding presence on stage.

  • Hailing from Snohomish County, Lacy Gibbet performs a diverse set of blues, rock, and soul at Barboza.

  • Brandon Gilseth channels a classic rock vibe as lead singer for Lacy Gibbet.

  • Avery Hohenstein provides a quiet but strong vocal accompaniment to Lacy Gibbet’s classic blues sound.

  • Bassist Chris Hoover looses himself in the soulful grooves of one of Lacy Gibbet’s slower psychedelic songs.

  • Keyboardist Vince Garbarino (right), alongside Hohenstein, uses his DJ skills to bring a new electronic dimension to Lacy Gibbet’s classic blues and rock repertoire.

  • Drawing influences from Soundgarden, Pink Floyd, and Pearl Jam, Lacy Gibbet plays its own flavor of soulful, bluesy rock with a psychedelic groove.

  • Tacoma-based Mister Master headlines the night at Barboza with its uniquely Pacific Northwest blend of 70s psychedelic rock and 90s rhythmic grunge.

  • Guitarist Brandt Parke founded Mister Master with drummer Mark Christensen while they were in college.

  • Vocalist Ian Lowery belts out intense vocals during a metal-influenced song.

  • Parke also serves as the songwriter for Mister Master.

  • Mister Master’s members have a fun and playful on stage chemistry that keeps the crowd entertained.

  • Bassist Eric Phinney’s epic grooves are surpassed only by his signature big hair.

  • Mister Master closes out the night with a high-energy and intense track that screams of 90s grunge mixed with metal and classic rock vibes.
